DEFINING THE ANOINTING
A New Anointing for a New Generation
1. I Corinthians 12:4-6, "Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. And there are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons."
2. Psalms 92:10, "But Thou hast exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil."
3. Isaiah 10:27b, "...the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing fatness."
4. Acts 10:38, "...God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him!"
Definition of the Anointing
Supernatural enablement, grace, manifested presence of the Holy Spirit operating upon or through an individual or corporate group to produce the works of Jesus.
DEFINING THE PROPHETIC
What is the Prophetic?
1. As a people, we have been called to carry a prophetic-type burden; to live out on the living edge of God's eternal purpose.
2. We should, especially in the New Testament, make a working distinction between the office of a prophet and the prophetic ministry of a corporate people.
3. We see the prophetic ministry as one aspect of the five-fold calling, resident in a degree in every ministry; more evident and activated in others.
4. God's ultimate weapon is a man or a woman who has encountered the prophetic anointing. It should ever be kept in mind that God does not anoint projects but men and women--people!
5. A working definition of the prophetic ministry is as follows:
They speak the Word of the Lord in the Name of the Lord.
They carry "weight" by virtue of the ethical, moral, and spiritual urgency in their message.
They are prophetic, not by birth or official designation, but by the power of their inner call and the response of their hearers.
The single most characteristic mark of true prophetic people is the evidence that they have stood in the counsel of Jehovah and have, thereby, faithfully declared what they have heard from His mouth.
They are primarily concerned not with the distant future, but to tell forth the will of God in the crisis of their own days. They are then essentially, interpreters of God.
Their major task--Old Testament and New, was to declare that in Christ, all the prophecies were foreshadowed and fulfilled: Acts 3:24, I Peter 1:10-11, Revelation 19:10.
What is Prophecy?
We could say that prophecy is the expressed thoughts of God, spoken in a language that no man in his natural gift of speech could ever articulate. The substance and nature of prophecy exceeds the limits of what the natural mind could conceive. (God's thoughts are not man's thoughts, Isaiah 55:8.) The gift of prophecy comes through the mouth of man, but it comes from the mind of God--spiritual thoughts in spiritual words. (I Corinthians 2:9-16)
DEFINING VARIETIES
Varieties (from Webster's Dictionary): Being various or varied; absence of sameness; different form of same thing, condition; collection of different things.
Different Levels of Prophecy
1. Spirit of prophecy.
2. Gift of prophecy--circumstantial or occasional that comes upon a person.
3. Ministry gift--residential, consistently abiding within a person.
4. Prophetic office--that can be a foundational ministry in the church. (Ephesians 2:20)
Seven Expressions of the Prophetic Spirit
Prophets and those in prophetic ministry are as different as one snow flake is to another. The following list of seven distinct expressions gives us a sampling of these prophetic variations.
1. Seers operating in dreams and visions.
2. Those who proclaim God's corporate purpose.
3. Those who proclaim God's heart standards for His people.
4. Those who proclaim the church's social responsibilities and moral actions.
5. Those who speak forth the administrative strategy of God with a political slant.
6. Prophetic worship leaders who usher in the manifested presence of God through prophetic worship.
7. Prophetic intercessors who pave the way for prophetic fulfillment.
VARIETIES OF PROPHETIC ANOINTING
The Kingdom versus the Church
1. Some are placed in the church to equip the church. Others are placed in the church for ministry to the secular community to release God's Kingdom influence.
2. With governmental authority or without? Some prophetic vessels carry a governmental leadership anointing (Moses, Abraham, David, etc.) Others do not and should not. Let us not covet another person's grace allotment.
Other Possible Categories Needed Today
These are simply a few additional examples of the variety of prophetic anointing the Holy Spirit wants to release.
1. Spirit-Bearers:
John 3:8, "The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit."
The practice of the presence of Jesus--releasing the ordinary manifestations of God's glorious presence, through a love-walk.
Extraordinary manifestations, such as falling in the Spirit, quaking, shaking, ecstatic speech, power encounters, kingdom clashes of angelic and demonic warfare, angelic activity, fragrance of Christ, etc.
2. Prophetic Counselors: This is a combination of pastoral and prophetic. Often mingled with the spirit of counsel and understanding (gifts of healings and discerning of spirits). Their concern is with the internal condition of the heart and mind of man.
3. Prophetic Enquirers: This is a prophetic and teacher combination. They explain the ways of the Spirit, taking the bizarre and making it practical, relatable, and understandable. Their call is to multiply and disciple.
4. Prophetic Writers: This is a gift-mix of writing and prophetic. They write with revelatory anointing, expressing God's heart to contemporary society.
5. Prophetic Evangelist: This is taking the revelatory gifts to the streets, stadiums, neighborhoods, health clubs, executive places, shopping malls, etc.
SOME CLOSING ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS
The Killer
Comparing oneself to another, and wanting what they have produces death. Avoid jealousy and insecurity. God has plenty to go around--seek your own call and anointing, learn from others but get your own.
The Antidote
Walking in accountability with others. Cultivate faithfulness with what you already have. Find your identity in Christ Jesus first, instead of gifting. Then give yourself to that unique expression of His grace in your life.
Breaking Barriers and Mental Limitations
There can be "molds and yokes" that seem to hinder people. Through rejection, wrong types of comparisons, and the residue of legalistic traditions permeated with the fear of man, we can walk under false "yokes and molds" that need to be identified and broken off. The Holy Spirit will help us and liberate us to be the unique, varied expressions of His wonderful prophetic presence, and yet walk circumspectly with integrity within the Church.
Breaking out of the Box
God has never been in a box! We are the ones in boxes! We must let the Holy Spirit take the lid off, flow in creativity, and be all that you can be in God!

"THAT" is annointing - a humorous grassroots definition
The young man came to the wise man and ask him WHAT is anointing?
The wise man answers:
Do you see that bird in the tree singing to give God the glory. That is not annointing.
Do you see that cow grazing in the field. That is not anointing.
BUT when you see that cow sit in the tree and sing like a bird- THAT is anointing!
Faith makes things possible, not easy...
There once was a man who had nothing for his family to eat.
He had an old shotgun and three bullets.
So, he decided that he would go out and kill something for dinner.
As he went down the road, he saw a rabbit and he shot at the rabbit and missed it.
Then he saw a squirrel and fired a shot at the squirrel and missed it.
As he went further, he saw a wild turkey in the tree and he had only one
bullet, but a voice came to him and said "pray first, aim high and stay focused."
However, at the same time, he saw deer which was a better kill.
He brought the gun down and aimed at the deer!
But, then he saw a rattlesnake between his legs about to bite him,
so he naturally brought the gun down further to shoot the rattle snake.
Still, the voice said again to him, "I said 'pray, aim high and stay focused."
So, the man decided to listen to the voice.
He prayed, then aimed the gun high up in the tree and shot the wild turkey.
The bullet bounced off the turkey and killed the deer.
The handle fell off the gun and hit the snake in the head and killed it.
And, when the gun had gone off, it knocked him into a pond.
When he stood to look around, he had fish in all his pockets, a dead deer
and a turkey to eat.
The snake (Satan) was dead simply because the man listened to God.
Moral of the story:
Pray first before you do anything,
aim and shoot high in your goals, and stay focused on God.
Never let others discourage you concerning your past.
The past is exactly that "the past."
Live every day one day at a time and remember that only God knows our
future and that he will not put you through any more than you can bear.
Do not look to man for your blessings but look to the doors
for you that only He is able to do. Doors that you will not slip through but doors
that only He has prepared in advance for you in your favour.
Wait, be still and patient: keep God first and everything else will follow.

All Praises to God our Father, Jesus the Son and and the Holy Spirit!!!!!!!!
I have never anointed anything before and frankly I did not believe in the power. I thought it was symbolic only. I believe this is part of a very powerfull process of learning lead by God. Somany miracles have happened to my family in the last few months due to the power of prayer, I just can not leave it to chance.
Now before I tell my story I need to say there is a difference in 'believing' in God and truly believing and giving your all to God. I never knew just how much God loves us until lately, He is so patient and forgiving it is so difficult for a mere mortal to discribe. Even now, after going through this whole process of God leading me; yes little old me, who is a mother and a wife and not much more, I still doubt in Him briefly. Thinking this is too good to be true, how can all this be true? But this is just how evil in this world works, they know how weak we are waiting for the slightest sign of weakness to pounce. God is so amazing and loving He forgives us every singel time we truly have remorse and embraces us. Every time, with out a doubt I started thinking like this, God smacks me with yet another miracle. I say smack because it hurts knowing how small my faith really is.
Last night after having somany nights of restless sleep for all of us, due to nightmares. The most horrifying nightmares. Putting up with tantrems every night before bed and throught out the day. (I have a 2 year old) I was feeling so hopeless seeing my child so unhappy all the time. I prayed and asked God to reveal the problem to me. I removed things that I believe could be ungodly a while ago as part of my home cleansing process, but I needed to secure the room. I believe God wanted me to annoint the room to secure it against evil. Now if you think I am totally NUTS, no worries, I thought so too, but I needed to do something.
I grabbed a bottle of oil from the kitchen once both babies were sleeping and annointed all the doors and windows in the room, top sides and bottom. After this I rebuked all demons, evil spirits and things with evil intent out loud in the name of Jesus Christ, you dont have to shout they have good hearing even though they have existed for many years. And then I prayed asking the Lord to keep us safe and give us a peacefull nights rest.
Well we all woke up rested, with no nighmares even my hubby who is an insomniac. I woke up with praises for God in my heart and have been singing all morning. And the biggest miracle of all, we have had no tantrums all day not even going for an after noon nap, which is normally our worst time.

Praying for your children
Hi Lizz,
It is so wonderful to hear these testimonies of how God is moving and teaching us each day. I want to recommend a book to you which has helped me so much in raising my kids (4 year old boy and 7 year old girl). It is Stormie Omartian's book called the "The power of a praying parent". I learned that we need to cover our children everyday in prayer and for every aspect of their lives. Also, it is such a priviledge and responsibility to be a mother - and therefore God gave us such power when we pray for our children.

That book is wonderfull. I have Stormies 3 in 1 collection Praying book which contains the praying wife/parent/women. I am currently still busy with the praying wife. I was having problems with our little boy and the nightmares when something told me to skip to the praying parent one and I read the chapter about her own little 11 year old boy having nightmares and that annointing the room helped. That is what gave me the urged to anoint the room. At that stage I thought it was plane curiosity that made me read the chapter but now looking back it must have been the Holy Spirit moving in me.
I think it is definately a book for everyparent to read. There is defenately a very calm motherly sense around her writing.

True or False Prophecy? Trying to help with an answer
I honestly don't know what the answer to your question is, but I will try and help you get the answer with my own experience.
When I was a newly reborn child in Christ, which was not that long a go :), and I tried to speak the word of God, rebuke evil from my life or read about the spiritual world, I would often get goosebumps running all over my body. This use to scare me tremendously, I use to think it was demonic presence. And the more I got scared the more I felt these goosebumps. I felt them most extreme when we were discussing demonic activity to try and figure this whole spiritual world out for ourselves.
A few months ago my baby girl started screaming uncontrollably. The more I sang to her and the more I prayed the more hysterical she became. In my spiritually confused state I started rebuking evil, thinking she was being tormented. I called my husband to pray with me and we eventually called our pastor. Our pastor Prayed out load for a while and thanked God for our beautiful child. During all the time she was screaming I felt these goosebumps, and became hysterical myself.
Our Pastor came to visit us the next evening and we had a lovely meal. I discussed the previous evenings events with him and it was clear that my baby was bothered by her teeth or something and my hysteria was causing her to be even more upset and I most definitely frightened her. I told him about the goosebumps and his words made me feel more stupid and loved than I have ever felt. He told me that my goosebumps is normally the way the the Holy Spirit uses to let you know that you are not alone. Even if it scared me and I insulted the Spirit by thinking it was evil, He NEVER left me, not once.
Now, being richer in my knowledge, the goosebumps make me feel happy, calm and safe. God is with me no matter what!
I am trying to use my story to let you know that maybe God is trying to tell you something, but it might not be what you think it is. Search the Word and keep your eyes and ears open, God speaks to us in different ways. He can use anyone and anything, even someone that is not yet saved.

Questions on: being a Prophetic Counsellor
My Question please
1. I have the gift of prophetic counsellor with the discernment of spirits. Please advise how do I pray. I would sit in front of a person and suddenly I would see another person looking back at me. It can be only the face (head) or also the persons whole body. What does discernment of spirits mean? What type of prayers do I do for the person? Are these people I see ancestoral spirits, graveyard spirits (what?). I usually pray against witchcraft spirts and have them denounce any attachments to witchcraft and other. Please can you advise me.
2. I also noticed that my eyes twitch alot. When this happens there usually is something that is going to happen negatively (this is what I have begun to think. Sometimes both eyes twitch and then sometimes just one. I usually pray that the Lord should turn whatever has been set out for bad and turn it to good. Please advise what this twitching could mean. Am I correct?

I am a counsellor in the field of healing and deliverance. God also uses me prophetically and with descernment of spirits in counselling sitiuations. Descernment of spirits is a gift where the Holy Spirit reveals to your spirit if the person you are dealing with have an evil spirit (demon) influencing his/her life. E.g. a spirit of fear, a spirit of perversion, a spirit of rejection, etc. You would also be able to walk into a room and sence in the spirit that there are a presence of evil spirits. God did not intend for us to see into the spirit world. If you can see an evil spirit it means that either by your own involvement or the involvement of your family in the occult or freemasonry, your third eye (also known as the all seeing eye) has been opend. I speak of experience, because I could see other spirits from a very early age. I would suggest that you seek more equiping in these areas and be very carefull on what which spirits you pray against. The eye twitching could be a reaction to what you are dealing with. I can contact you personnally on your cell and give you more detail if you are comfortable with that.
prophetic worship
Lately Ive had an unsettlement in my spirit about worship. Im not satisfied. I think there's more to it. I feel "shallow", I feel trapped. Like there's more. I started googling PROPHETIC WORSHIP because for some reason when I think about that I feel that is the direction. But HOW do I tap into it? How do I make the people in our worship team understand, hunger & desire for this? How do I explain the difference? How do I tap into it?
PLEASE email me and advise. Im almost desperate because I believe this is the key to breaking through in worship. Im so tired of just singing and just allowing a bag of emotions to overwhelm and leave myself and people unchanged. I believe prophetic worship is the key or answer. PLEASE respond.

When God begins to work in you, really work in you, you will find that you are given a great hunger and thirst for Him. It is not prophetic worship, which is an experience that will satisfy, really satisfy that hunger I believe you are both looking for, but Jesus Himself. Not a "WOW!" moment as you have explained in another way above, but a JESUS moment. Only He can satisfy this emptyness you are referring to. How do we get to that place with Him? By first of all telling Him we want Him just for Him - not for anything HE gives us - just simply, Him. You see, He has to do it, we cannot of ourselves, of our flesh bring this change about in our own lives. Up until we get to this point, all has been just emotional highs and lows without any reality involved. We create the reality because we don't know any better. I spent the best part of 30 years trying to create this, not knowing any better. Now I know the difference, and all praise and glory to God for it, for it is nothing to do with me at all - just me saying to the Lord, "Here's my life for you to help Yourself to and use as you wish, but If I cannot have You I would rather be dead, because my life with you is a lie so far - ther has been no reality with you - just me making it up and using the right sounding words."
The reality of living with God everyday is not about the WOW MountainTop moments, it is about the daily, ordinary things in the Valleys that we do with Him in Him as we go about our lives and understanding and accepting that to grow us, He has to stretch us and most times it is a very painful thing to go through, but absolutely necessary. Most modern preachers, you will not hear about this from.
