To produce this interactive maps include two manual processes which is labour- and specialist intensive. We are currently developing the whole process just via internet inputs so be patient and when the IT development is finished, we all can share the fruit of this pioneering initiative.
After attending the 3 rd Aids Conference in Durban we are more aligning ourself and our different networking partners, towards the new Strategic plan of the Government (NSP 2007-2011) and to make more of our partners aware to adhere to national policies, strategies and especially standards of operation. In this way we all can play our part and Christians can become a “centre of excellence” that are also aligned with national efforts by the other sectors and role players for the pandemy.
A complicated national problem like the Aids pandemy cannot be solved with simple solutions and therefore we believe it is important to come with holistic approaches by specialist organisations that focus in their area of specialisation. Some of the first networks working alongside each other to achieve this are:
An umbrella network supporting 68 Crisis Pregnancy Centres countrywide. These provide HIV counselling and testing for pregnant women, as well as youth outreach training in HIV prevention |
Christian AIDS Resource and Information Service (C.A.R.I.S) |
Has four Resource Centres (as well as a website) providing information to churches and Christian organizations about how to deal with HIV/AIDS. They aim to set up a national network of local resource centres to make information resources more directly available. |
Mission Forum |
KwaZulu-Natal-based body that organizes the Mission Fest or Spring Festival which is an EXPO |
A newly registered body formed by a wide consortium of churches, church groups and Christian organizations with the aim of improving collaboration amongst faith-based structures at local, regional and national level. We look forward for closer collaboration with all involved. |
Better Together Network |
A local network of Christian organizations in Amanzimtoti (Durban) wanting to adopt a co-ordinated, holistic approach to address some of the problems of AIDS in the area. |
Organization facilitating the placement of “Youth Coaches” in schools in many areas across the country for the purposes of Life Skills training and support. |
Christian Development Forum |
A Durban based forum that strategise around bringing the expertise of Christian Development organisations into the mobilisation of churches for community development e.g. Expertise of retired founder of ACAT |
