Kingdom Observations and Ponderings

Kingdom Observations and Ponderings I love to ponder the possibilities and creative ways we can please God and serve others. I love to reflect on how things are, and “what if” we changed them. How can we further align ourselves toward His Most Excellent Ways. We only know in part, so it is always good to check what we think that we know often.

These are observations and ponderings can be purposeful to challenge existing paradigms, while firming up Kingdom foundations. Many of these are happening all around us, but what if they were not just the exception, but were consistently happening. What will Father do as His children grow up in becoming more like Him? My prayers are to continually stimulate possibility thoughts towards ways that bring forth His Kingdom through our lives.

Here are my Observations and Ponderings as we move into 2010:

Pray for our leaders rather than complain about who we have or don’t have in office.

God is on the throne and will have His way, regardless of who is in office and we are called to pray for His will and for His purposes to be accomplished for our nation.

Give to Caesar (government) what is Caesar’s, and give to God what is His, which are our very lives.

Jesus was consumed with His Father’s Kingdom being brought to the earth, we must focus on that rather than political processes, and give that burden to Him. Do what you are called to do, and leave the rest to Him.>> Read More ... >>>

Elijah, Jehu, and the War Against Jezebel

As we considered how many political and religious leaders have fallen to immorality, as well as so many others, it seemed right to us that a fresh reminder of this enemy's deception be added to our discernment.
This message is adapted from Francis Frangipane's recently revised book, The Three Battlegrounds.

Are we worse off than Sodom and Gomorrah?

NOT caring for Poor and Orphans!

Someone made the remark that Christians in SA today, are worse off than Lot’s family in Sodom and Gomorrah:

In general, Sodom’s sin is perceived to have been sexual immorality like gay’s etc., but the Scripture is clear in Ezek 16:49 that Sodom’s sin was that they did not care for the poor, (the orphans, widows and strangers (refugees)). By neglecting that care, they created a selfish culture that resulted in fruits, like sexual immorality.

One definition of poverty is: Poverty is the proof of resources maladministrated. (South Africa is the country with the second largest gap between poor and rich in the world! )

Let us address the root of the problem and be better off. Practical steps can be taken by you as a family or by your cell group to take care of an orphan.

The steps below are so easy and a good place to start.>> Read More ... >>>

A brief exploration of the concept of dualism from the perspectives of philosophy, history, theology and culture

In recent years one of the most frequently debated topics of conversation in Christian circles has been the church's perceived failure to relate effectively to contemporary culture. Themes like 'engaging with our culture', 'participating in the world', 'relevance', 'incarnational ministry', 'connecting with culture', missional church', 'emerging church' and a host of other synonymous expressions abound in contemporary Christian literature. A number of books have specifically addressed the need for the Christian church to engage more authentically with today's culture, a culture that has been tagged 'postmodern', often to the exclusion of any other label. Conferences and seminars overwhelm the Christian public, urging believers not only to become like the 'men of Issachar', who 'understood the times' in which they lived , but to get involved in society as salt and light, seeking to make a difference.

Some lessons from the elephant - for perspectives on "Kingdom"

by Ruth L. Whitfield Lessons from elephant
When I was a child, one of my favorite animals was the elephant. They seemed so big and strong, yet gentle—and useful, too. Old movies showed them arrying passengers or cargo. They helped clear paths, remove large trees and stomp our dangerous fires. >> Read More ... >>>

The Church in TRANSITION

The Church in TRANSITION

The church is always in transition.  Yet, history is laced with seasons of specific and significant change.  We are in such a season, a time in history where more is changing in days and weeks than changed in years and decades of the past.  One author refers to the present move of God as “Revolution.”

Following are some of my thoughts on the current condition and changes that are being seen in the church, along with what I believe to be God’s intention.  This is not at all comprehensive, and should not be received as more than I intend.  I do hope that these thoughts may have some teaching value and be helpful to some.

Please remember that we all know in part and prophesy in part, and we need one another if we ever hope to come to the fullness of God’s revelation to mankind.  All that any of us can do is faithfully steward what God has given us.>> Read More ... >>>

We look for the "gaints" to give wise counsel on this topic "The Kingdom of God"

We are all searching for truth. Please do not kill the early pioneers which are prepared to stick their neck out... What we need is the Giants to bring perspective and balance on what the Kingdom of God is.

When researching more and more we hear about that God is busy moving the Church from the "Church age" into the "Kingdom age". No doubt that this can be "messy" to discern what the Holy Spirit is doing.>> Read More ... >>>

At the last organising meeting 22 March in Durban, most pastors agree to dedicate time from their services on the day. That is to allow much more people to pray on the day as a practical arrangement. A few zones plan to held a gathering as a symbol of unity the afternoon organised through the different fraternals.
