As followers of Christ, our continual call is upward. The directive "come up here" in Revelation 4 is the recurrent appeal of heaven. The direction of God's intent for our lives is always above what we have known and where we have trod. Yet the "upward" direction, the "above" life may not be "up" in any physical sense. "Up" in the realm of the Spirit may well be "in" or it may merely be an awareness, a discernment of something unseen yet authentic.

A dictionary description of the word "up" yields in part, "with greater intensity, in or into a better or more advanced state; into evidence, prominence, or prevalence, and into operation or practical form; into possession or custody."

Could it be that the current generation of followers of Christ is experiencing a revealing from heaven of something "coming into evidence, prominence or prevalence?" It is evident there are many people in the Body of Christ who attempt to integrate their Christian faith with the pursuit of happiness. In examining this subject I believe the reason for this belief is most likely a confusion of the concepts of joy and happiness. Joy is an inward sense of peace, contentment, and even ecstasy due to our righteous standing in Christ and fellowship with the Holy Spirit. This state of joy should be present in all believers in spite of the circumstances or challenges one might be facing. Joy is a supernatural experience that cannot be explained outside of a supernatural act of God. As the song writer said, "The world didn't give us joy so the world can't take it away!"

Living by the Spirit of the Lord is something we all pursue in our every day life. How we do this, can be a challenge for sure. Jesus lived a life of prayer, and when He needed dedicated prayer time, He would even send crowds and most likely potential resources away, so that He could be with the Father. As a result, He would not move, speak, or do anything that the Father did not ask Him to do.

As I think of prayer and how often we come to the Father during a crisis, I am thankful that our Loving Father responds to hearing our cry. I am also reminded that prayer is really for us to connect with Him, His nature, and a conduit for His peace and joy to flow through us. >> Read More ... >>>

I have a dream...  Do you have a dream?  What a privilege it is to have this question and this challenge put to you when you are 6 or 10 or 15 years old.  It is a question that makes the mind create vision and hope for the future.  On our annual Orphans and Vulnerable Children's Camp we presented this peep into their own futures to 58 children aged between 6 and 15.  A brave policeman stood up inside the body of a 7-year old.  A doctor who makes a difference began to grow in the mind of a 12-year old.>> Read More ... >>>

When I was a young teenager and used to go to Church youth camps and school Christian camps we were often given talks by various adults about sharing our faith. I remember at the time being handed a booklet with the "4 Spiritual Laws" and "How to share your faith" and so on. I used to page through these booklets with such fear and sweaty palms at the mere thought of having to go and speak to anyone, using these books as a guide.

We never know the joy of self-sacrifice until we abandon in every particular. Self-surrender is the most difficult thing - I will if . . . !  Oh, well, I suppose I must devote my life to God. There is none of the joy of self-sacrifice in that.
