Yesterday, I spent the day alone doing things that are far richer shared with someone very special, but that was not to be. It was the first Valentine’s Day I have ever spent without those simple wordsY, “I love you” being spoken in my ear by someone who did. While I am confident that day, I spent the day alone doing things that are far richer shared with someone very special, but that was not to be. It was the first Valentine’s Day I better days lay ahead, yesterday was not one of them. But I learned something…

Connecting Increases Your Influence in Every Situation

Connecting Increases Your Influence in Every SituationBy John C. Maxwell www.johnmaxwell.com

Maybe there was a time when people could succeed in life without communicating effectively with others. I tend to doubt it, but if so, that time has passed. It’s not enough to just work hard. It’s not enough to do a great job. To be successful, you need to learn how to really communicate with others.>> Read More ... >>>

Haven’t you ever gotten frustrated in a presentation because you weren’t able to communicate your ideas as effectively as you wanted to and people just weren’t getting it? Haven’t you ever wanted to help your boss understand how hard you worked and how much value you add to the company so that you could get a well-earned raise or promotion? If you have children, haven’t you wanted to get them to listen to some of your wisdom so that it would help them make good choices?

"Love Me Where You're At"

Love me Where you areby Francis Frangipane www.frangipane.org

I have discovered that, as we seek the Lord, our most difficult periods can be transformed into wonderful breakthroughs into God's love. For me, one such season occurred during the years 1979 to 1981. The association of churches with which I was aligned had fallen under spiritual deception. Not only were its core doctrines increasingly seeded with New Age influences, but immorality crept in, and key leaders began leaving their wives for other women. I could no longer remain silent. As a result, in 1979 I left my congregation in Detroit, Michigan, where I had served as pastor, and traveled to the organization's regional headquarters in Iowa. I came to plead for repentance. However, after meeting with the senior leaders, I was asked to leave the group.

So here we were—we had left our church, we had no money, and we had four little children and couldn't afford even basic housing.

4. You manipulate people to promote yourself and try to make things happen instead of allowing God to open doors and promote you.

5. You look for opportunities to backstab other leaders in your region or field of work.

6. You are driven to succeed to counter your insecurity, poor self-esteem and a sense of insignificance.>> Read More ... >>>

Defense Mechanisms: Why & How We Block Intimacy

Blocking Intamicy!

Hello beloved,
Intimacy can be incredibly elusive! Though we all desire and need it, oftentimes we ourselves are the very reason it escapes us. May the Lord illumine our eyes to see and move beyond our defense mechanisms into fulfilling, lifelong intimacy with our loved ones.>> Read More ... >>>

Authentic Connection- What is intimacy?

Intimacy is the meaningful and fulfilling connection between two or more authentic selves. Vulnerability and trust are assumed, since the authentic self is essentially and perpetually vulnerable, needing assurance of safety for expression. Intimacy is when the real Me meets the real You

The Plain Truth about Christmas

I have been wondering about the ritual of Christmas for a very long time, wondering if 25 December is the true date and if not, when was Christ's true birthday. I stumbled upon this http://www.jesus-is-savior.com and was wondering what your comments and thoughts are about this.>> Read More ... >>>

Chip Brogden - Back to the Cross

I read the article on the crossconnections front page last week called,  The Missing Ingredient  and enjoyed it very much so decided to look further to see what else this brother has written on his site, the School of Christ. I came across one of the most wonderful writings I have ever read on the cross of Jesus outside of Oswald Chambers and I decided to share it with you here. >> Read More ... >>>

My journey of sharing my Lord with others

My Journey of sharing the Lord with others >> Read More ... >>>

When I was a young teenager and used to go to Church youth camps and school Christian camps we were often given talks by various adults about sharing our faith. I remember at the time being handed a booklet with the "4 Spiritual Laws" and "How to share your faith" and so on. I used to page through these booklets with such fear and sweaty palms at the mere thought of having to go and speak to anyone, using these books as a guide.

We never know the joy of self-sacrifice until we abandon in every particular. Self-surrender is the most difficult thing - I will if . . . !  Oh, well, I suppose I must devote my life to God. There is none of the joy of self-sacrifice in that.

THE SAINT MUST WALK ALONE

"The man who has passed on into the divine Presence in actual
inner experience will not find many who understand him. A certain
amount of social fellowship will of course be his as he mingles
with religious persons in the regular activities of the church, but
true spiritual fellowship will be hard to find.

Betrayed by Trust

Betrayed by TrustThose who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. Psalm 125:1, NIV

When Bryan, our youngest son, was just a small boy, he asked his dad to put him on top of a large seven-foot-high concrete platform at the library. Eddie did so. After a few minutes, Eddie reached out his hands and said, "Jump, Bryan! Daddy will catch you." Bryan was not so sure. Eddie said again, "Jump, son. I won’t let you fall. You can trust me to catch you." Cautiously, but obediently, Bryan jumped into his daddy’s arms.

About four months later, Bryan was climbing a tree at a park. When it was time to go, Eddie reached out his arms to Bryan and quietly said, “Jump.” To Eddie’s astonishment, Bryan joyfully jumped into the arms of his loving father.

Most of the disappointment and pain we have suffered have come from misplaced trust. We have loved God and trusted people. Some of those people have violated our trust. Now we must learn to trust God and love people!1 Beyond the Veil, pgs 125-126 >> Read More ... >>>

The Power of Integrity

We are now living in a world of compromise, in a society that has abandoned moral standards and Christian principles in favor of expediency or practicality. The underlying philosophy is based on accomplishing goals by whatever means are necessary. This self-centered perspective should have as its motto: “If it works for you, do it”. This is a notion that inevitably leads to compromise of conscience and convictions. Because compromise is so prevalent in our society, you could say we no longer have a national conscience; guilt and remorse are non-factors in determining behavior.>> Read More ... >>>

The Profession-Expression Gap

by Stephen Crosby www.stevecrosby.com
Christian discipleship is frequently dehumanizing and undignifying, emphasizing behavioral results over realized Christian personhood.

Realized Christian life expression is often far below its potential. While we are not saved by our behavior, our behavior has kingdom impact. Few things hinder Christ's interests in the lives of unbelievers more effectively than the poor testimony of His own. Our evangelistic efforts can be near impossible because of the flotsam of bad testimony left by the Christian who may have gone before us. This doesn't excuse the unbeliever, but it sure doesn't make our task easier!>> Read More ... >>>

Slaying the Phantom in Your Life

Phantum in your lifeExtract: A phantom is an unattainable mental image or standard by which we measure our performance, abilities, looks, character, and life. It is perfect and idyllic. A phantom, by definition, is an illusion, an apparition, or a resemblance of reality. Disguised as the truth, its distortion is exposed only through a careful, unhurried, and unhindered inspection.

A multitude of phantoms lurks in the minds of men and women. There is the phantom husband or wife, the phantom father or mother, the phantom family, job, or friend. We all have them.>> Read More ... >>>
