TransparencyTransparency In The FireSubmitted by Dien_die_Manne on Wed, 2010/03/03 - 9:47amYesterday, I spent the day alone doing things that are far richer shared with someone very special, but that was not to be. It was the first Valentine’s Day I have ever spent without those simple wordsY, “I love you” being spoken in my ear by someone who did. While I am confident that day, I spent the day alone doing things that are far richer shared with someone very special, but that was not to be. Maybe there was a time when people could succeed in life without communicating effectively with others. I tend to doubt it, but if so, that time has passed. It’s not enough to just work hard. It’s not enough to do a great job. To be successful, you need to learn how to really communicate with others.>> Read More ... >>> Haven’t you ever gotten frustrated in a presentation because you weren’t able to communicate your ideas as effectively as you wanted to and people just weren’t getting it? Haven’t you ever wanted to help your boss understand how hard you worked and how much value you add to the company so that you could get a well-earned raise or promotion? If you have children, haven’t you wanted to get them to listen to some of your wisdom so that it would help them make good choices? I have discovered that, as we seek the Lord, our most difficult periods can be transformed into wonderful breakthroughs into God's love. For me, one such season occurred during the years 1979 to 1981. The association of churches with which I was aligned had fallen under spiritual deception. Not only were its core doctrines increasingly seeded with New Age influences, but immorality crept in, and key leaders began leaving their wives for other women. I could no longer remain silent. As a result, in 1979 I left my congregation in Detroit, Michigan, where I had served as pastor, and traveled to the organization's regional headquarters in Iowa. I came to plead for repentance. However, after meeting with the senior leaders, I was asked to leave the group. So here we were—we had left our church, we had no money, and we had four little children and couldn't afford even basic housing. 25 Signs that you ARE Leading from Your Dark SideSubmitted by ServeTheMinistries on Wed, 2009/09/09 - 7:54pm
1. You inwardly celebrate when a colleague or fellow minister falls. 2. Your spirit of competition causes you to inwardly celebrate when other organizations or ministries in your field aren’t doing as well as you. 3. You are more concerned about your local church or organization than the good of the kingdom of God and cultural transformation. 4. You manipulate people to promote yourself and try to make things happen instead of allowing God to open doors and promote you. 5. You look for opportunities to backstab other leaders in your region or field of work. 6. You are driven to succeed to counter your insecurity, poor self-esteem and a sense of insignificance.>> Read More ... >>> 7. You thwart the emergence of other strong leaders in your organization. Psalm 125:1, NIV
When Bryan, our youngest son, was just a small boy, he asked his dad to put him on top of a large seven-foot-high concrete platform at the library. Eddie did so. After a few minutes, Eddie reached out his hands and said, "Jump, Bryan! Daddy will catch you." Bryan was not so sure. Eddie said again, "Jump, son. I won’t let you fall. You can trust me to catch you." Cautiously, but obediently, Bryan jumped into his daddy’s arms.
About four months later, Bryan was climbing a tree at a park. When it was time to go, Eddie reached out his arms to Bryan and quietly said, “Jump.” To Eddie’s astonishment, Bryan joyfully jumped into the arms of his loving father.
Most of the disappointment and pain we have suffered have come from misplaced trust. We have loved God and trusted people. Some of those people have violated our trust. a world of compromise, in a society that has abandoned moral standards
and Christian principles in favor of expediency or practicality. The
underlying philosophy is based on accomplishing goals by whatever means
are necessary. This self-centered perspective should have as its motto:
“If it works for you, do it”. This is a notion that inevitably leads to
compromise of conscience and convictions. Because compromise is so
prevalent in our society, you could say we no longer have a national
conscience; guilt and remorse are non-factors in determining behavior.>> Read More ... >>>The Profession-Expression GapSubmitted by ServeTheKingdom on Fri, 2007/08/03 - 2:35pm![]() by Stephen Crosby www.stevecrosby.com Christian discipleship is frequently dehumanizing and undignifying, emphasizing behavioral results over realized Christian personhood. Realized Christian life expression is often far below its potential. While we are not saved by our behavior, our behavior has kingdom impact. Few things hinder Christ's interests in the lives of unbelievers more effectively than the poor testimony of His own. Our evangelistic efforts can be near impossible because of the flotsam of bad testimony left by the Christian who may have gone before us. This doesn't excuse the unbeliever, but it sure doesn't make our task easier!>> Read More ... >>> Slaying the Phantom in Your LifeSubmitted by ServeTheKingdom on Tue, 2007/06/26 - 10:47am Extract: A phantom is an unattainable mental image or standard by which we measure our performance, abilities, looks, character, and life. It is perfect and idyllic. A phantom, by definition, is an illusion, an apparition, or a resemblance of reality. Disguised as the truth, its distortion is exposed only through a careful, unhurried, and unhindered inspection. A multitude of phantoms lurks in the minds of men and women. There is the phantom husband or wife, the phantom father or mother, the phantom family, job, or friend. We all have them.>> Read More ... >>> |
